Can digital marketing save your business?
It’s a fair question and one worth answering.
After all, the global pandemic has everyone trying to figure out ways to keep their businesses afloat during the hardest economic times in decades.
There are tried and true methods of digital marketing that have been proven to work. It’s a matter of figuring out what’s going to work best for your business, tweaking it to get it just right, and watch your business explode in growth!
But let’s just pause for a second and make sure we’re all on the same page.
So, it’s true – digital marketing can be the life blood of your business. But there’s more to it than a simple yes or no answer, so I’m going to dig a little deeper and cover the question a little deeper along with the natural next questions you’re most certainly going to have.
Can digital marketing save your business?
So many businesses in 2021 are struggling and dying.
The pandemic is a big part of that.
But in some instances, all the pandemic has done is accelerated what may have been inevitable for some businesses causing them to shut their doors faster.
It’s not pretty, but it’s true.
And it doesn’t have to be that way.
In times like these, where there are huge challenges, there are also huge opportunities.
And figuring out how to seize the opportunity is the responsibility of every business owner.
It could be that you’ve made big mistakes your business in the past.
The good thing is that now you have the opportunity to correct them.
And there has never been a better opportunity than right now to get on the right path.
And going all in on digital marketing is one of the best things you can do to save your business.
There are several different aspects to digital marketing:
- Content marketing
- Search engine marketing
- Email marketing
- Online sales funnels
- Social media marketing
- And more…
But this isn’t something where you want to just throw it all against a wall and see what sticks.
There are proven methods that work, you just have to know what the right recipe is going to be for your business.
And once you do that, the impact that digital marketing can have on your business is off the charts!
How digital marketing can help your business?
Digital marketing helps your business by putting you in front of your dream customers wherever they may be.
It’s entirely different than traditional marketing with its direct mail, billboard ads and magazine ad approach.
You see the internet has made it possible for just about every single human being on the planet to connect online.
I’ve got friends in Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Europe, Australia and all kinds of other places that I would never have ever met without the internet.
We’ve connected because of our mutual interests and have built great friendships.
And your business can do the exact same thing!
It’s about reaching out beyond what you thought was possible and reaching more people in your target audience regardless of where they live.
And it will even help you make greater connections to your local dream customers too.
How many people could you help in your local community if they only knew who you were?
Where traditional marketing tactics fail, digital marketing more than takes up the slack.
And can put your business in to a whole new level of success.
Would my business benefit from digital marketing?
Think about it this way.
If your business is a traditional brick and mortar business that’s relied on the normal, accepted ways of doing things, you’ve seen the results that delivers for you.
It’s expensive to advertise, and the ROI from those ad investments is very slim.
Conversion rates are incredibly low, and they’re mostly being seen by cold audiences.
It’s like old school door-to-door sales.
If you knock on enough doors, you’re eventually, just by the sheer volume of knocks you make, going to make a sale.
But how many rejections do you have to go through to get that one sale?
And how taxing is that on you, emotionally?
Having done similar things in my life, it’s really tough. Brutal I would say.
Digital marketing makes everything different.
Let me ask you a question:
How much is your best salesman worth to your company?
If we’re following the 80/20 principle, you may have one sales person who’s responsible for 80% of your sales.
But that person gets sick. They want to take vacation. And someday, they may leave for a better higher paying gig somewhere else.
But what if you could put that sales person to work for you 24/7/365?
And they never took a vacation, or called in sick.
And they were constantly delivering their best pitch to your dream customers, non-stop?
Sounds great, right?
That is exactly what digital marketing is!
When you’ve got your digital marketing strategy dialed in right, it’s like having your best rockstar sales person selling for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
What would having that in place mean to your business’ bottom line?
Does digital marketing work for all businesses?
It’s probably the most common question in the digital marketing world.
Seriously – I see it all the time.
The responses go something like this:
“I see how it works, but my business is different”.
So let me ask you this:
Are your dream customers online?
Do they spend any time on Facebook?
What about Instagram?
If they are, then digital marketing can work for your business.
It doesn’t matter if you’re an interior designer, or if you’re selling cars.
If your dream customers spend any time online digital marketing can be the vehicle that takes your business to the next level.
Is digital marketing expensive?
Can I tell you a secret?
Digital marketing doesn’t have to cost you anything!
Yep – you read that right.
You can get started doing digital marketing for your business online for free.
And you don’t have to overcomplicate the process either.
It starts by simply figuring out who your dream customer is, what they’re struggling with, and how you can help them.
Then you figure out where they’re hanging out online and you engage with them.
You answer their questions.
Comment on their posts on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
You build name recognition and show up everywhere.
Do it right and you’ll have your sales funnel full of your dream customers in no time at all.
What are the advantages of digital marketing?
The biggest advantage of digital marketing is that it removes boundaries and restrictions.
You can connect with people who fit your dream customer profile locally in your own area, and also on the other side of the country.
And even on the other side of the world!
There are no boundaries or borders that stop you from reaching your dream customer, wherever they may be.
It gives you the ability to stay in touch with your dream customers directly using email and social media, where you can continue to build relationships, demonstrate your value, and build trust.
And of course, it should go without saying that it opens up all new revenue streams for your business where there previously was nothing.
What are the disadvantages of digital marketing?
Here’s the deal:
There really is no disadvantage to digital marketing.
As with learning anything new, it takes a little time to get it up and running. But once you’ve got that in place, you can start sending leads to your business on autopilot.
There may be some technology challenges you’ll need to overcome, but you can figure it out yourself, as so many others have done.
Or you could find an expert to help you implement what you’ve learned here.
It just depends on how much time you have and how much budget you’ve got.
If you’ve got time, then learning how to do it yourself is the way to go.
There’s something to be said for at least learning the basics of how things work so you can ask better questions so you can get better answers.
Or if you’ve got the budget for it, you can “find the who, not the how”.
What I mean by that is that you can accelerate your path by hiring an expert to build out the technology pieces you need in order to get things in place faster.
Either way, that’s really it when it comes to disadvantages. The internet has connected everyone everywhere who wants to be connected, so the hard work has already been done.
The only thing that’s left at this point is to choose the path that’s going to work best for you where you’re at right now, and then take the next step.
Is digital marketing the future?
Can we have a little real talk for just a second?
Here’s something I’ve learned that’s a hard reality: Just because your business is online doesn’t mean it won’t die. But if your business isn’t online, you’re almost certainly going to see your business die.
Sure, there may be an exception here or there for a very niche-type business that doesn’t have to have an online presence.
But even then those businesses would benefit by establishing themselves online.
But we’re not talking about the outliers.
We’re talking about the vast majority of businesses.
And if you’re a traditional business that isn’t online already, and you’ve managed to survive this far, first of all congratulations!
You’ve done what few have been able to do.
But we’re playing the long game here, and the future of business is online.
If you just look at some of the biggest businesses in the world, they’re all online businesses.
The future of all business is online business. And smart businesses are figuring out how the digital marketers are building and growing online businesses and implementing those strategies and tactics with great success.
If you want your business to survive and thrive into the future you need to figure out how you can implement the best that digital marketing has to offer for your business.
