Revealed: The secret behind why some people make it and some don’t

Why do some people make it and some don’t?

That’s a subject that has intrigued me for a long time.

It seems like some people can’t miss. You see them in your Facebook feed, and things couldn’t be going better for them.

Their business is growing. Their site is getting tons of traffic. Their community is engaged.

So you get inspired. You know that person and you know that if they did it then you can do it too.

So you roll up your sleeves, but it doesn’t happen the way you thought it would.

You don’t see the jump in traffic.

You don’t notice any growth on your social platforms, or your email list.

Your business is stagnant.

And all the while you’re wondering what you did – or didn’t do that got you here.

I know exactly how you feel.

Because I’ve felt exactly the same way, and it’s frustrating if we’re just going to be brutally honest, isn’t it?

But what we don’t see most of the time is what’s going on behind the scenes.

We don’t see the refinement their idea went through, nor do we realize that the version you see is the thousandth revision that they’ve been working on for a long, long time.

We don’t see the experimentation and the tweaks, changes, nudges, and other things that the concept went through.

We don’t see the years that person spent behind the scenes building their own expertise with constant work and numerous setbacks.

It’s actually one of the primary things I listen for now when I’m listening to podcasts or watching video blogs. I’m always learning when I’m listening, but I also look for the hidden gems.

I look for the things where they make a reference to how long they spent in their J.O.B. working on getting better at what they do.

I listen for the queues that point to their struggles and frustrations and what ultimately lead them to take the chance and bet on themselves to make things work.

Taking a bet on themselves …. Yes.

That’s the ticket.

And they didn’t let themselves down because they – themselves – were all they had.

They ultimately found themselves in a position where staying where they were was no longer a better idea than betting on themselves.

The ones we’re inspired by, that infuse us with that feeling that “I can do it too” are the ones who persisted through doubts and fears. They’re the ones who dug deep and remembered what motivated them to take that next step.

They remembered why it was important for them to do what they do.

No – not important.


They were motivated because of the crucial nature of what they were trying to achieve.

That motivation powered them through the challenges.

That motivation got them out of bed in the morning to work on their ideas. It also kept them up late at night.

Their challenges caused stress in their life because they know just how vital it was for them to achieve what they had set out to do.

They got comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Maybe they needed to start a blog.

Maybe it was doing YouTube videos.

Maybe it was a podcast.

Doesn’t really matter what specifically it was.

But it was the reason behind what they did that made all the difference.

So what is your “why”?

Why do you do what you do? Why are you striving to build a business online?

For me, my thing is getting out of debt. It’s time to get all those payment monkeys off my back.

If you’ve got debt I’m sure you can understand how it feels – it’s like death by a thousand tiny cuts and I’m ready to get rid of all of the debt and experience FREEDOM for myself, my wife and my daughter.

But I’ll tell you more about my goals later.
