The Single Greatest Personal Development Hack I’ve Ever Encountered

"Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better...."

I really didn’t mean to, but I stumbled into it, and once I came to my senses I figured out that I’d accidently figured the single greatest personal development hack I’ve ever encountered.

It’s not a book.

It’s not a morning ritual or an exercise routine.

It’s not a diet.

But without a doubt, it has done more to shape me as a person than all those other things combined.

We’re all about making progress in our lives, right?

That’s what we want to do – we aspire to become greater than we are now.

Not in the sense that we’re trying to put ourselves up on some kind of pedestal, or have the world look at us and go “look how awesome that person is!”

But in the sense that we want to grow as people – earn more income, start a side-hustle business, or step out on our own and become a solopreneur and forge our own path in the world.

Because who really likes answering to a boss? Who’s really excited about helping someone else achieve THEIR goals?

We legitimately want more from our lives. And since we’re talking about it, I’m going to say it: there’s nothing at all wrong with wanting more from your life. If you haven’t already, go ahead and give yourself permission, it’s ok.

But here’s the kicker:

In order to get more out of our life we have to become greater than we are now.

Jim Rohn pointed out that we are where we are in life precisely because of the choices we’ve made and the things we’ve done.

Opportunity in this day and age is unprecedented. So, what have you done with it? We’re immersed in the greatest time of opportunity that the world has ever seen.

So why isn’t everyone getting out and forging their own path?

Here’s why: because it’s freaking hard, and if it was easy, everyone would, in fact, be doing it.

If we’re going to extract more from this life, we’ve got to refine ourselves.

Rohn put it this way, and I think it’s perfect:

“Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom.”

Here’s another one:

“Work hard at your job and you can make a living. Work hard on yourself and you can make a fortune.”

<mic drop>

The key to getting what we want in life is by pushing ourselves to grow.

it’s really no different than exercise. if you want to see results, you have to put in the work.

That’s why I believe entrepreneurship is the single greatest personal development hack I’ve ever encountered.

How do I know? Because it’s what gets me out of bed at 4:30am every day and pushes me.

  • I’m motivated to get out from underneath my student loans and other debt.
  • I’m motivated to build a business that genuinely helps people achieve their goals and dreams.
  • I’m motivated to build financial freedom and independence for my family

And to do this I know I have to work hard and get better. I need to get better:

  • At writing emails
  • At building products
  • At developing sales copy
  • At building things that help people achieve what they’re after

And a lot more….

I’m not saying this to be preachy. A pastor friend pointed out if you “preach from your own weaknesses you’ll never run out of material”. And that’s what I’m doing here.

I’m in this with you. I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m busting it working on getting to the next step so I can then get to the next step after that. And then the next step…. You get the point.

You see, we’re always a work in progress. We’re striving to get better. We’re striving to learn what works, and what doesn’t work.

It’s also why I’m creating a new podcast that I’m calling Adventures in Digital Marketing.

I’m running experiments with digital marketing and I’m talking about everything I learn.

I’m covering what works and what doesn’t and documenting everything along the way.

I invite you to follow my journey as I document what I’m doing – the good, the bad, and everything in between along the way. I hope you’ll hop on board with me and follow along on this journey to digital marketing mastery.

And if there is something you’d like to hear about (tips, tactics, or tools) let me know.

Here’s my challenge for you: What are you doing to take the next step out of your comfort zone so you can build the life you want to build?

Have you started your website yet? If not, what are you waiting for? I urge you to build and launch your website. All the help you could need is right here:
