Hey, everybody what’s going on? It is Tuesday afternoon. I wanted to come here and chat with you and just say what’s up to everybody in the group. I hope everybody is off to a great start this week. I flipped my phone around trying to do things a little bit differently see if I can make this video look a little bit better. If it looks weird or out of focus or not framed up, it’s because I can’t see it.
Anyway, I think I’m relatively in front of the camera. Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about something that I learned while I was at funnel hacking live that I think I’ve mentioned before, but it was something that is really been helping me lately.
One of the things that I’ve been working on— I’ve got a new offer. I’ve been telling you guys about that. I’ve got things that I’m working on, but one of the big challenges that I have right now is making some traction in different circles, getting traffic and making things happen.
My email list is doing great. My organic social is doing great, but I’m looking for things to grow into more. That’s kind of the idea here.
I was thinking about it last night, as I’m laying there bed. I’m looking at TikTok and I’m thinking about what the next steps are for me and what I need to be working on. I was reminded about Tom Bilyeu’s session during Funnel Hacking Live.
One of the things that he said really hit me and made a really big impact on me. He said, he was talking about this concept of how computers learn how to play chess. Basically the idea was that when they were trying to create these new computer programs that would be able to learn how to play chess.
They would just go through and they would try to figure out how things worked in order to get to the end results. The one thing that never happened with the computers and you’ll have to excuse me, because I am on my porch.
It just started raining outside. I just figured it might be nice to have something that’s a little bit different than my office as the background.
Anyway, the thing was that they were trying to do this thing where it really stuck with me. He said that failures are the most data rich, data streams or something like that, that we have available to us because they are so full of information that we can use to learn from.
The idea was really just this concept of gamifying your business in trying to figure out what’s not working and running experiments. Then rerunning whatever tests that you’re trying to do and just run this over and over and over again until you are actually getting the results that you want to see.
This really stuck with me because as human beings, I’m just like anybody else. If I’m working on something, whether it’s social media, or it’s a funnel page, or home page, or website design, something’s not working the way that I want it to, it’s very easy for me to get discouraged. It’s easy for me to go, “Man, I’m just not ever going to be able to make the breakthrough that I want to see here.”
Tom would say instead of that the idea is that you really want to gamify this concept so that you take the input from the setback or the failure in examine why those things aren’t going as planned or working out the way that you want him to.
That’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve been working on my social media stuff. I’ve been working on my newsletter. I’ve been working on my email list and working on this offer. Everything that I’m doing right now is just cycling through trying to fight off discouragement where I see setbacks and failures, but also at the same time to look through that, look past that and really be able to learn from that and then find intelligent solutions to the problems that we’re having.
One of the things I think that’s easy to get stuck with is this idea that you’re just going to try something else right. The gamification model doesn’t really work that way. It’s taking the input from the failure and then making intelligent steps, next steps for you to make your next attempt.
So when the computer is learning how to play chess, it may learn how and I don’t know anything about chess, but it could be maybe that the Queen gets pinned in a certain position with a certain sequence of moves. Instead of doing this particular thing with your queen, you’re going to do something else, maybe something like that I don’t know.
It’s taking intelligent information that you use as the basis for your next attempt and not just taking the next thing and throwing it against the wall and see what sticks.
I think that that really would come along any of our experiments. It would really prolong any of the things that we’re trying to do, any of the things that we are trying to learn from in this space, or building a business online— digital marketing and those kinds of things.
I just wanted to share that with you. If that’s something that you struggle with, let me know in the comments below. Let me know what you think about this. I would really love to hear your thoughts, how can you leave your business, take this idea of gamification and make intelligent next steps for your own business because we’ve got people in this group that are coming from all different kinds of businesses.
We got digital marketers. We got web designers. We got copywriters. We’ve got ecommerce people. We’ve got, you name it, if you can do it online. We’ve got people in this group that is doing that. I would really love to hear from you so that we can start firing ideas off each other and seeing how maybe something that we can learn from our own perspective can be something that can help somebody else in their business who may not be as far along as you are with yours so that’s what I’ve got for you guys today. Definitely give me a heart.
Give me thumbs up. Let me know that this is helpful to you. As you’ve probably noticed by now I’m trying to do this Facebook live a little bit more just telling you the things that I’m learning and keeping you up to date on the things that I’m doing in my business. Hopefully there’s something there that might inspire you that can help solve a problem for you in yours.
You guys take care. Thanks for coming in and checking this out. You take care. I’m not going to go back to the other side of the game. I couldn’t stop this video. Thanks.
