Did you know that the most important thing that you can do when you’re trying to connect with your dream customer is to enter into the conversation that they’re already having in their own head. That’s what we’re talking about today on Quick tips Tuesday. Ready, let’s go.

Welcome back, everybody. My name is Rob Orr. If we’ve not met before, I’m a web designer and developer who is absolutely obsessed with digital marketing. Today, I want to talk to you about something that is going to really help with your traffic as a whole.

One of the things that I’ve been working on lately that has been really just a challenge for me personally and for my clients over time is consistently being able to generate traffic for your online efforts. It could be traffic for a campaign that you’re working on. It could be traffic for your website. It could be traffic to your YouTube videos.

It could be traffic from any kind of thing that you’re trying to do online. I’ve been studying Traffic Secrets lately that is this book right here. I’ve already read it, but I’m going back through it again to dig deeper into some of this stuff. One of the things that I saw the other day really stuck out to me.

It’s in the first chapter. The challenge is we’re trying to connect with our dream customer. First, we need to know who that person is. We’ve talked about that before on this channel. If you don’t know who your dream customer is then how do you even know that what you’re saying to them is even going to make sense?

There’s no way for you to know because you don’t know who you’re talking to and you don’t know how you can help them. If you don’t know how you can help them you are not making any sense whatsoever, but what I figured out the other day when I was doing my study was that in order to be really effective with connecting with that dream customer once you figured out who they are, is to enter into the conversation that they’re already having in their own mind. It goes like this.

The challenge is that you want to be able to create content that connects with them. It kind of makes sense if that’s the thing that we’re trying to do. The big thing that you need to do to be able to do that is to figure out the conversations that they’re having with themselves. Think about it from your dream customers perspective, what are they struggling with?

What are they trying to achieve? When it comes to dealing with your dream customer, they’re always trying to do one of two things so far as solutions are concerned. They’re either trying to move away from pain or they’re trying to move toward pleasure. It makes sense right now everybody because it’s the coronavirus pandemic is everywhere all over the world.

It’s making things crazy for people. People are moving or trying to move away from pain. What are the things that they’re saying in their own heads that they’re trying to figure out? What are the solutions that they’re trying to create? Russell gives some examples here that I think are really awesome.

So when somebody is trying to move away from pain, when it comes to their health, here’s a great example, if there is regarding their health, if I’m trying to move away from pain, I feel like I’m overweight and I don’t feel comfortable in my clothes. That would be an easy thing for somebody who is struggling with their health and they’re trying to move away from.

Here’s another, I don’t have any energy and I feel tired all the time. How many of us have said that? If we create messaging that speaks to that conversation that people are already having in their own head, it’s going to make all the difference in the world. You’re going to be able to go a long way in being able to connect with them. The other side of this is for people that are trying to move toward pleasure.

It’s something that you want to be able to do to enter into this conversation. If somebody is trying to move toward pleasure when it comes to their health, they’re saying to themselves, “I want to have six pack abs.” They’re saying to themselves, “I want to run a marathon.” These are things that are moving towards pleasure.

So when it comes to figuring out how to connect with them, you got to enter into the conversation that they’re already having in their own minds.
